Long Time No Blog

It has been forever since I have been on this thing. My original intent was to blog so our friends and family could stay updated on our lives since we moved to Pensacola. The only thing that I can attribute to my lack of posts has been life. Life has just gotten in the way of so many things, blogging included. Our little world has been crazy lately and it doesn't seem we have any time at all to slow down. Here is a recap on our lives since the last time I blogged.

I am teaching at Escambia Christian School. I teach 5th grade and am the cheerleading coach. Being a 5th grade teacher is not the easiest job in the world, but it is very rewarding to see my students learn a new concept. I love seeing their faces light up when they understand something I have taught them and I also love their tender hearts. Steven is in his last year of preaching school. He will be done in June and then will go on to finish his bachelors degree. He is still the youth minister at the Leonard St. congregation. We absolutely love being at Leonard St. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful church family who loves us and supports us. We love our church family so much.

I have been having quite a few stomach problems lately. I have had two different procedures done and will have another one done this Monday. The one on Monday will be seeing if my gallbladder is functioning correctly. If they find that it's not, I will have to have my gallbladder removed. Please pray that they will find a solution to my problems and something can be done soon.

I intend to become a more consistent blogger. I promise I will do a much better job on updating you all on our lives.

So Many Changes

So much has happened since the last time I wrote. It has been crazy and that's the reason for the delay. For so long Steven and I have been praying that I would get a job. I had done everything from substitute teaching to going to a staffing agency. Because of our prayers and the staffing agency, I was called to go on an interview at the Waterfront Rescue Mission. The mission helps homeless people and individuals dealing with substance abuse get back on their feet by helping them find jobs, go back to school and just have a warm place to sleep and a hot meal to eat. After a 9:00 a.m. interview about a week and a half ago, I got a phone call about two hours later saying I had gotten the job. Now I work in the Development Office helping with fundraising and database things. I love working where I do. It has been such a blessing. Steven and I have also been looking for a place of our own to live. The elders at church have been so gracious to let us stay in the apartment, but we really needed something of our own. Two weeks ago we went house/apartment hunting. We came across a beautiful home and feel in love with it. The landlord showed it to us and we both knew it was the one for us. There was just one problem...how were we going to pay for it? Keep in mind this was before I was offered my job. Once again we prayed continually for things to work out. God answered our prayers once again and as of last Tuesday, Steven and I began renting our new house. The house is called a patio home. It looks small from the front but really opens up once you get inside. It is 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and 1200 square feet. It has a fenced in back yard and a pantry(which is my favorite part). God has truly blessed us in so many ways and everyday He keeps showing us that He is listening to us when we talk to Him.
Steven and I love living in Pensacola. We have grown so much as a couple and as Christians by being here. We are so lucky to have each other and to have all of our friends and family.

Big Changes

I believe the Lord puts you in certain places and situations for different reasons. My new job was definitely one of those places. In the first few weeks of working, I was asked to lie for the company and my boss decided it would be a good idea to talk about me behind my back to my fellow co-workers. I knew that lying for this company was something I did not believe in and I knew was certainly not right. I began looking at other options and I found out that in the state of Florida, all you have to have to teach school is a Bachelor's degree of any kind as long as you take a certification test. I signed up to take the test and this coming Tuesday is when I will take it. I am also meeting with the principal at Escambia Christian School to talk about possibly substitute teaching. My boss found out that I was looking for another job and was going to fire me once they found a replacement. He also was trying to find ways to run me off so he wouldn't have to fire me. The burden was too much for me to handle and I quit my job yesterday. I knew that quitting was the best option for my family and for myself. Steven was a huge supporter and helped me through everything I was going through. I truly believe the Lord put me in this job to help me see that all Christians are not really Christians. I truly believe that I made the best decision. I know the Lord is going to take care of me and I will find another job soon. If I pass this test on Tuesday, then I will be certified to teach and maybe by January I will be teaching. Your prayers are greatly appreciated!

Steven is still in school and is enjoying it. He has a lot of work he has to do each night, but I am so proud of him for the hard work he's putting into everything. I have the most amazing husband in the world. He is such a loving, caring man who supports me in everything I want to do. I am truly blessed.

My New Job

Today was my first day working at Scott's Outdoor Sports. I had a really good day, but I have so much that I have to learn in a few months. It's going to be crazy and I'm going to be busy, but my life wouldn't be normal if it weren't crazy and busy! I have my own desk, I got an e-mail address and I have my own extension when someone calls me! I was so excited about all of this. Now I get to take pictures of me and my wonderful husband and of my girls to sit on my desk.

Steven was so wonderful today. When I got home, he already had supper cooked and our laundry sorted out...so I could put it up! He also had the bed made. What a champ! I couldn't have asked for a more perfect husband. Steven has been so supportive throughout this whole waiting game with me searching for a job. Now I'll be bringing home the bacon and he'll be frying it up...so he says!

I'm actually looking forward to going to work again tomorrow. The drive is a pain though. Right now I'm driving almost an hour one way just to get to work. That will all change once we move to Cantonment next month. Then it will only be about 30 minutes or so. The drive home was a little scary. People down here just don't know how to drive!

Steven started his second week of school today. He is really liking the preaching school and is learning a lot. He is working on support letters to send to different churches in the area and back in Tennessee. Since the school doesn't want their students to have full time or part time jobs, earning support from different churches and individuals is the only way for Steven to have some money coming in. Right now the Leonard Street Church of Christ is sponsoring him each month as well as a couple from Louisiana. He is hoping to earn more support from others so we can both have incomes coming in. He is working so hard and I am so proud of him. God truly blessed me when he gave me Steven.

Please keep us in your prayers. This new job will become a little more difficult each day and school will start getting more taxing for Steven. Your prayers are greatly appreciated.

Our Big Move

Steven and I have only been married for almost three months now, but in those three months we have made some pretty big decisions. As most of you know, I have been job hunting ever since I grauduated from Freed-Hardeman last December. We have also been doing some heavy duty praying that I would find a job. Little did we know that God had the perfect job in mind. He gave me the perfect job, but not anywhere in Tennessee. As of last Saturday, Steven and I have officially become Pensacola, Florida residents! I was offered a job at Scott's Outdoor Sports in Jay, Florida doing all of their public relations, compiling their entire catalog, selling ads and doing customer service. Thanks to Ms. Sheila, our very helpful friend at Freed, I sent in my resume to her son (who is the manager of the store) just to see what would happen. They read my resume and wanted to meet with me. Steven and I drove down for a couple of days and I had my interview. They hired me on the spot! What an answered prayer!

Since Steven was about to start another semester at Freed, we had to decide what to do about his schooling. Just our luck, the North West Florida School of Biblical Studies is here in Pensacola. The school is sponsored by the Mileston Church of Christ and is a free two year program that he will complete. Not only is he going to school, but he is also the youth minister at the Leonard Street Church of Christ where he has interned for the past two summers. God has truly blessed us with this opportunity. Right now we are living in the church apartment and in October we will move into our house. I am really looking forward to that! Since being here I have already gotten my beach fix in and have already eaten at Whataburger. You cant find either of those in Tennessee!

I figured that this would be a great way for our family and friends to keep up with us since we are both about to get very busy. Istart my job on Tuesday and Steven begins his second week at school on Tuesday as well. Please leave comments and keep us updated on what is going on back home!
